Miss Maddie's Studio
From the haunted mind of Maddie Stackpole, the author, artist, musician, and mother who runs Miss Maddie's Studio.
I create a wide variety of stories, art, and graphic novels but most of them are on the dark side or deals with dark topics.
I am an autistic/adhd bisexual woman who has unfortunately went through a lot of childhood and young adult trauma and I use my works to process a lot of this.
I am disabled, I have POTS and hEds which makes traditional nine to five work practically impossible, thankfully I have my writing and art.
If my works ever deal with triggering content, you can rest assured that I will give trigger warnings and an author/artist note to give a little context. It's the least I can do since I would love to get that from other artists and authors.
My Story
Childhood was rough and I moved out of my parent's house right before my 17th birthday. I ended up in an abusive relationship with a man in his twenties and shortly after, I was pregnant.
By 19 years old, I had a darling one year old little boy and a concussion and reatraining order from his father. We haven't seen him since.
Through a series of misfortunes after that I became homeless and then lost everything I owned. All of my childhood possessions, all of my son's baby books and baby first memorabilia. Then for the next few years, I hopped from homeless program to family's couch to homeless shelter until I was finally able to scrape up enough money to put a few months down on an apartment.
The apartment ended up being over a juiced up meat head who worked nights and my son was now five. The floors were paper and every time we walked, he would punch his ceiling and scream at us. It was terrifying and I even had to call the police on him.
Then my sister moved in and we got a better place together. That was a great time in my life and I cherish those times.
Then in 2019, I met the love of my life and we have been together ever since. It hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows but there has always been love.
I have a lovely little life now, my son is not a teenager and homeschooling. I have a gaggle of pets which has always been my goal. I have two disabled pets, Simon the 11year old cat with seizure damaged brain and Evie my one year old narcoleptic puppy, then we have the cats, Bane, Trixie, Catsby, and Leo and my other puppy, Chucky, and our lizard Zudd. And yes we do plan on getting more.
